MedCount Privacy Policy
Effective date: 12 March 2026
MedCount is an iOS app that helps you track medication inventory, optional Apple Health data, and optional refill reminders. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data MedCount processes, why it is processed, and your choices and rights.
Who We Are
MedCount is operated by MedCount.

Data We Process
MedCount is designed to minimise data processing.
Data you enter in the app
- Medication names, inventory counts, refill thresholds, refill quantities
- Notes you add to medications
- App preferences (for example theme and notification settings)
Apple Health data (optional)
- If you choose to connect Apple Health, MedCount can read:
- Medication dose events you have logged
- Your medication list you authorise for access
- MedCount does not write medication data back to Apple Health.
iCloud synchronisation data (optional)
- If you enable iCloud Sync (Premium feature), your medication records and selected preferences are synchronised across your own devices through Apple CloudKit.
Product analytics data
- MedCount uses PostHog for product analytics to improve app reliability and onboarding flows.
- Analytics events may include app version, build number, screen name, feature interaction events, subscription status, medication count, and an app-scoped analytics identifier.
- Analytics events are designed not to include medication names, medication notes, or Apple Health dose contents.
Support and diagnostics data
- If you contact support, you may choose to send diagnostics (for example app and permission state) and your message content.
- Diagnostics are only shared when you choose to copy/export or email them.
How We Use Data
MedCount uses processed data to:
- Show current inventory and refill status
- Synchronise taken doses from Apple Health (if enabled)
- Synchronise data across your devices using iCloud (if enabled)
- Provide refill and sync notifications you configure

- Measure feature usage and improve app performance and stability
- Respond to support requests
MedCount does not use your data for targeted advertising.
Legal Bases (UK/EU)
Where UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, MedCount relies on:
- Performance of a contract: to provide app functionality you request
- Legitimate interests: to improve reliability, monitor performance, and prevent abuse
- Consent: where platform permissions or optional features depend on your choice (for example Health access, notifications, and iCloud sync)
How Data Is Shared
MedCount does not sell your personal data.
MedCount may share data with:
- Apple: for Apple Health permissioned reads and optional CloudKit synchronisation
- PostHog: for product analytics processing
- Support channels you choose: for example email providers when you send support messages
If third-party processors are used, they are expected to protect data to standards consistent with this policy and applicable law.
International Transfers
Some service providers may process data outside your country of residence. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used for cross-border transfers.
Data Retention
- App data remains on your device (and in your iCloud account if enabled) until you delete it, reset the app, or remove the app and related backups.
- Analytics and support records are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for product operations, troubleshooting, security, and legal obligations.

You can:
- Use MedCount without enabling Apple Health
- Choose which medications to link, and unlink at any time
- Enable or disable iCloud synchronisation in Settings
- Enable or disable notifications
